This week I am in Barcelona, where I’m enjoying great art and architecture, incredible food, and warm, welcoming people.
I’m also noticing how a change in perspective can change the way one approaches a problem.
For example, credit card fraud is becoming an ongoing problem in the US, with more and more instances of thieves stealing data from physical cards, or even cloning the cards themselves.
In Europe, most of the cards have smart chips, which helps eliminate the danger of cloned cards. And a credit card never leaves your sight in a restaurant or other similar establishment. Instead of taking the card to another location to be processed, the server brings a small handheld wireless machine right to the table, runs the card, and prints out a receipt right in front of you.
