Unfortunately, we lose a variety of great actors and performers each year (including British actor Alan Rickman just this morning). What made Bowie different was how much he reinvented himself on an ongoing basis.
Over the course of nearly half a century, Bowie transformed from one character to another–changing not just his personal style but his musical interpretations as well. He never rested on his laurels…keeping his illness quiet, and launching yet another new album just a few days before his death.
Bowie also took personal branding to new heights–creating an investment bond around the future earnings of his music sales.
Planet earth is blue…and there’s nothing we can do.
