Linda Popky interviews Karen Freberg at the recent Integrate 2011 Conference for IMC professionals at West Virginia University about how social media fits with crisis PR plan.

A doctoral candidate studying public relations at the University of Tennessee, Karen is currently a graduate teaching associate at the University of Tennessee and an adjunct faculty member for West Virginia University. Karen’s research interests are in public relations, crisis communications, and social media. She’s presented in several international conferences with her research in China, Brazil, Greece, and the Netherlands. Karen has also worked on several grant projects with the National Center for Food Protection and Defense (NCFPD) and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology Division involving emerging social media and mobile technologies in crisis communications.
