Last Saturday, a combination of Israeli and American forces initiated an attack on the Islam Republic of Iran, killing the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei and many key subordinates.
In the week since then, the coalition has hit key strategic targets, including missile factories, storage sites and launchers, military and national police sites, and intelligence facilities.
In return, Iran has lobbed hundreds of ballistic missiles and drones at not just Israel, but its Arab neighbors as well. Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey, Cypress, the UAE, and Bahrain have all been hit by Iran. The tactic appears to have backfired, as the Gulf Arab nations appear as unified against Iran as they’ve been in decades. Israeli families are spending more time in secure shelters these days than out of them.
President Trump did not brief Congress or many US allies before undertaking this action. Many Americans ask why this was necessary at all, and why it had to happen now.
Here’s a quick overview:
- Over the last 40 years, Iran has killed thousands of Americans and other Westerners in terror attacks on almost every continent.
- Iran has been the#1 sponsor of terror in the Middle East and beyond through its proxies, which include Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis, and Islamic Jihad.
- The Houthis as blocking traffic through the Red Sea into the Strait of Hormuz, and holding up the supply of much-needed oil through the area.
- Independent thought was eliminated; women were forced to wear hijabs—and were not allowed to freely participate in society.
- Since January, the has regime killed as many as 40,000 civilians or more who had the audacity to protest terrible living conditions in Tehran and the rest of Iran.
- Iran’s motto: Death to Israel; Death to America,” and they mean what they say.
- The regime was attempting to rebuild its nuclear program, after being struck by the US last June. In addition, they had developed extensive ballistic missile capabilities and may have been close to launching intercontinental missiles capable of reaching Europe or the US.
- Without a military intervention, Iran would have quickly been in a position where Western allies would not have been able to contain their various offensive weapon systems.
How long will this conflict last? Will the repressive Iranian regime fall? If so, will whomever comes next be better or worse? Will 90 million Iranian people finally be free?
No one knows the answer to these questions, but sometimes it’s better to do what needed to be done and ask for permission and explanation later.
In Iran, women are dancing in the streets without their hijabs, thousands of people are celebrating the Israeli and American forces who have come to their rescue, and hoping the IRGC and military forces are eliminated soon.
The world is a better place without the Ayatollah sponsoring terror. The lion is starting to rise, and we have the opportunity to watch a culture and a people be revived.
